The Good School is growing, and we need a leader who can guide the financial systems that will carry us. As our business director, you will have a day-to-day, ongoing impact on company operations, helping us to analyze and fortify our financial position.

Some nuts and bolts:

  • Take responsibility (either directly or via staff) for all cash management, investments, insurance, and financial reporting, and help drive the company’s financial strategy

  • Coordinate development of annual operating, capital, and program budgets, as well as reporting for the same

  • Develop and implement best practices to ensure a well-controlled yet flexible organization that has strong fiscal management, project coordination, cross-team communications, and workflows

  • Research, navigate, and coordinate current available grant programs through government and NGOs to be used to the greatest advantage.

  • Work with apprentices to provide mentorship in their business coursework, teach them relevant skills, and supervise their work results

  • Be involved with hiring, training, and managing support staff for this role

Preferred skills and qualifications

  • Master’s degree (or equivalent) with business concentration

  • Experience in startups, non-profits (we are not non-profit but it’s something that crosses our path frequently), investor relations, and cooperation with bureaucratic organizations

  • Experience in mentor roles such as teaching, coaching, training, and people management

  • Ability to streamline or implement structures that boost efficiency while supporting rapidly evolving business demands

  • Strong working knowledge of data analysis and performance metrics, using business management software
